What is a negative edge pool? Are vanishing edge pools, horizon edge and infinity edge pools the same thing?
The effect is the same in all cases, water appears to drop off into the horizon.

What is a tension edge pool?
The water laps up onto deck and there is no vertical edge at the pool.

What is gunite? What is shotcrete? Which is used by Pacific AquaScapes in Hawaii?
Gunite is a name used to designate a mixture of 1 part Portland Cement and 4 parts sand thoroughly mixed dry, passed through a Gunite Machine, and conveyed by air through a rubber gunite hose and deposited by air pressure. The result is a smooth, hard surface and is ideal for swimming pool construction.

Shotcrete is similar to gunite except the mix is wet, not dry. The mix is pumped through a nozzle where compressed air blows it into the application. Shotcrete is particularly suited for curved surfaces and is therefore also ideal for swimming pool construction.

Shotcrete is used by Pacific AquaScapes in Hawaii as most of our pools and spas are curved and sculpted.

You use the term "natural pool" and "architectural pool", what is the difference?
A "natural pool" has rock edges and possibly a rock waterfall, with stairs and or a bench with a rock finish. An "architectural pool" could also be free-form but has a standard plaster or tile finish with waterline ceramic tile and concrete or cut stone coping.

GFRC - what does that mean?
Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC): A cement/aggregate slurry reinforced throughout with chopped glass fibers. It is primarily used to create rock panels that are used to construct waterfalls and other rock formations.

FRP - what does that mean?
Glass Fiber Reinforced Plasticized Concrete Panels (FRP): A resin polymer/cement/aggregate slurry reinforced throughout with chopped glass fibers. Primarily used as rock panels in grotto applications where weight is a factor.
